After the death of her father, Kristina’s family fell below the poverty line. On Kristina’s first day of high school, her mother informed her that she would have to find some way to put herself through college. So Kristina devised a plan to pay for college herself, eventually earning scholarships to cover her entire education—a bachelors degree through her PhD.
But it wasn’t an easy road. As a teen, Kristina dealt with bulimia, anorexia, cutting and even one suicide attempt. Now she wants to show young people that they too can overcome obstacles.
In the book, Kristina explains not only how she dealt with these hardships, but also how she (an average student) worked her way from a financially challenged, single-parent home to a completely-paid-for education from Vanderbilt University. She shares her strategies to help others win scholarships and graduate from college debt-free, too.
